Air India to add 35 new aircrafts

Air India CEO & MD Ashwani Lohani, in its New Year Message to the employees has said that Air India plans to add about 35 new planes to it’s fleet in 2017 and had urged its staff to optimally fill them and fly them. With the addition of new aircrafts, the group would have a fleet of more than 170 planes. Currently, the group has around 140 aircraft including its low cost international arm Air India Express and wholly-owned subsidiary Alliance Air. “We are going to fly to many new international destinations and also connect new domestic destinations as part of the regional connectivity thrust of the government,” Lohani said focusing on consolidation and expansion of the national carrier.
